Background
Founded in 1900, Sacred Heart Catholic School enjoys a long history steeped in tradition, service and scholarship. It is the only Catholic school in the Pine Belt area and is located in historic downtown Hattiesburg. Sacred Heart Catholic High School is a co-educational, college preparatory high school, with an enrollment almost 200 students in grades nine through twelve. Its student body is diverse, representing various racial, ethnic, economic and religious groups.
Accreditation
Sacred Heart Catholic School is accredited regionally, nationally and internationally adhering to all regulations of the Department of Education of the State of Mississippi, Cognia (Formerly AdvancED’s Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI)), the National Catholic Education Association and the Catholic Diocese of Biloxi.

Sacred Heart Catholic High School’s primary mission is to prepare students for college. Therefore, the curriculum is challenging. The school year is divided into four nine-week reporting periods. Classes meet on a traditional seven-period schedule. The number of Carnegie units required for graduation is 28, within the following subjects as listed: English – 4, Mathematics – 5, Science – 4, Social Studies – 4, Religion – 4, Foreign Languages – 2, Health and Physical Education – 1, Computer Applications – 1, Fine Arts Elective – 1, College and Career Readiness Elective – 1, Other Electives – 1.
