Mrs. Ballard's seventh grade science students explored acids and bases in a lively and interesting lesson. Equipped with litmus paper and an inquisitive mindset, these aspiring scientists performed tests on everyday household objects to reveal whether they were acidic or basic in nature.
In addition to offering the students a hands-on learning experience, the experiment piqued their interest in the chemical composition of everyday objects. Mrs. Ballard is dedicated to providing science teaching that is entertaining and interactive. We are excited for more experiments that bring science to life in the classroom as these young scientists' investigate and explore the scientific world around us.
This is one of the first lab assignments for high school Biology where students explore basic anatomy and investigate simple organ systems using earthworms as ideal specimens. As segmented worms, earthworms are relatively simple yet well-preserved invertebrates, with easily identifiable digestive, circulatory, reproductive, and nervous systems.
The earthworm dissection lab serves as a cost-effective and convenient platform for students to hone their dissection skills before advancing to more intricate specimens like frogs or pigs. Special appreciation goes to the PTO for generously providing the lab specimens.
